We are excited to announce an upcoming update to the Install and Restart settings within your policy page, designed to bring better clarity and alignment with our modern agent architecture. What is Changing?Starting the week of January 26th, we are updating the policy interface for all environments running Agent Version 2.1.x and newer. With the introduction of the Agent Tray (v2.1+), our notification system transitioned from a "deferral-based" model to a "deadline-based" model. To provide a more intuitive experience, our UI is changing to reflect this reality. You will no longer see fields to enter multiple deferral options and maximum snooze counts; instead, you will see a single, clear Deadline field. For any new policies created after this update, the default deadline will be set to 9 hours (down from 48 hours). This change reflects industry best practices for timely patching, but remains completely modifiable to fit your needs. What Stays the Same?End-User Experience: If your policies
Hi everyoneI've been trying to automate HP driver update using the HP Image Assistant tool in silent mode. However, the process fails even before the analysis and installation parts. The command I run is:HPImageAssistant.exe /Operation:Analyze /Action:Install /Selection:All /Silent /ReportFolder:C:\HPIA\Logs /SoftpaqDownloadFolder:C:\HPIA\DriversFor troubleshooting, I have downloaded and tested HPIA from both:https://ftp.ext.hp.com/pub/caps-softpaq/cmit/HPIA.htmlhttps://printerdrivers.com/hp-image-assistant/The behavior matches exactly for both downloads. The script says it is waiting for HPImageAssistant.exe, but then it just times out and quits.Error:Timed out waiting for:C:\SWSetup\sp158107\HPImageAssistant.exeThings I've already checked:Running as administrator.Antivirus is not blocking the process.Download appears to complete successfully.HP device is supported by HPIA.Tested multiple machines with the same result. So far I have considered:The SoftPaq extraction is failing. The extrac
Slack retired its Windows MSI installers for enterprise deployment and moved Windows deployment to MSIX. Automox has added native detection and patching support for the Slack MSIX package under the standard Slack title. No policy reconfiguration is required for devices already using MSIX.Automox will not automatically convert existing Slack MSI installations to MSIX. Existing MSI installs will remain untouched until you choose to migrate them. To help with that transition, Automox is providing a base Worklet named Windows - Software Lifecycle - Migrate Slack to MSIX. This Worklet is available to all Automox customers, including customers who do not subscribe to the Worklet Catalog.👉 Read the full release notes for step-by-step guidance and details.
Did anyone else receive this message from someone at Automox? This feels as though Automox has allowed a sales/marketing person to sieve through my companies software list held on Automox for sales opportunities. This makes me very uneasy and even less inclined to use their remote access offering. Further more it will make me think twice about renewing the patching service when it comes up for renewal. I’ve had a browse of Terms of Use - https://www.automox.com/ and Privacy Policy - https://www.automox.com/. The only relevant thing I could find was on the Privacy Policy page under second 2.. but that was regarding Personal Data… I’ve been unable to find any information about how they say they will use company / patching / software data. ...2. Hi!We are new to Automox and seem to find ourselves in the middle of a transition when it comes to user interface updates. The University training modules still use the old deferral method. I am just wondering how you all are implementing your deadlines as I hear there is some interesting behavior associated with it if it is not done properly. I vaguely remember from our onboarding call a mention of setting the time incorrectly could result in users having booting up one day or and immediately having to reboot. Again, we are brand new to the product so any guidance on this subject would be incredible as I have to deploy this to close to 1400 endpoints in the near future and I’m looking to make this transition to actually having fully patched devices as easy as possible for our end users.
We would like to fetch software and hardware details of our endpoints and send to Symphony AI ITSM tool. can I get single API for getting both details ?
We are aware of the issue with initiating reboots from windows and that these are not completing the required Automox reboot work. For instance if a user @10AM defers a policy reboot for 4 hours and then decides to reboot their device @1PM during lunch the reboot work is not completed. I understand this is tricky to fix. But how are people dealing with those devices as they can remain in ‘Needs reboot’ for quite sometime if no manual intervention. Is there not a worklet that can trigger the automox notifications to say ‘click here to reboot’ or similar. Be good if the popup could remain when reboot is deferred so that reboot could be initiated from the popup. Thanks Chris
Hi everyone, Will there be any built-in support for dynamic group assignments coming to the product? For example, MS Azure has built-in features where depending on the OS, the device auto-populates itself in an assigned group upon discovery. We are a SMB running 90% on MAC, and our IT team is relatively small. They sometimes forget to log on the console and move a device from the default group to our custom groups which have specific patching policies applied to them. I think this is a feature that would greatly improve qualify of life. No one likes manual tasks! I think the core principle of the product is a cloud-based hands-off solution. I do read “Auto” in Automox! 🙂 Thank you!
Hi,In Automox, do we have Dynamic group populated? Instead of static group or manual group?
Hello, I have a issue with my policies not being executed. I have a couple manual approval policies that should have been executed this morning at 8:00 am UTC+0100. Yet when went to check only 1 policy had been executed by the scheduler (see screenshot). When i then ran a policy manually it did execute so the policies work fine. here are all the policies that should have been executed: here are the settings of the scheduler. all policies have the same: The reason so many devices are compliant is because of the rocky linux GPG key issue btw.
Ever wish your tools would just talk to each other without you stitching everything together manually?Join us next week on Thursday, March 26th at 10 AM CT for a practical intro to webhooks—one of the simplest ways to connect Automox with the rest of your stack and cut down on repetitive tasks. We’ll cover what webhooks are, how they work, and how you can start using them to trigger actions and streamline your workflows.👉 Save your spot: https://university.automox.com/best-practices-webinar-registrationHope to see you there!
Hello all, As we look to improve our data insights, we were wondering if our ticketing system (Freshdesk) could ingest data from Automox to help us keep track of assets. Upon searching I found these two integrations available for Automox. Does anyone have any experience with either of them, and are they useful?
Automox Team- Are there any Otto’s still floating out there? Happy sec engineer here who would love to add one to my swag shelf.
Is it possible to assign specific device group access to user ?
I’m using the worklet to delete devices after 30 days of being disconnected. I currently have a script in Intune that should add in the access key as well as stop then start the Automox service. This has been working for some time. However, I’m now seeing “to many Requests” within the amagent logs and devices not being added back in. I know Automox suggests uninstalling and re-install the agent manually but within the environment and with limited numbers on my team this isn’t a viable option.I do also have the Automox agent as required within Intune so am trialling a group for uninstalling the agent to which I’ll then remove those devices and the app should re-install.Anyone got a better way and an automated way of getting devices to add back to the portal that have been deleted
We are seeing multiple patches released a few days after our patching runs, especially third-party patches. It would be quite helpful to automate this patching to run every day, but ONLY IF THE PATCH DOES NOT REQUIRE A SYSTEM REBOOT. Restarting the application would be fine in this instance.Additionally, the other configurations like patch all except would need to be available for this too, as we, and many other organizations, have certain software that cannot be patched. In a perfect world Automox customers would be able to schedule patches to run at their preference (daily, weekly, hourly); patch all software that does not require a reboot and exclude any software that cannot be patched due to organizational constraints.I do not see this as an option, but it would be quite helpful in everyone's attempts to keep their systems secure and patched.I would assume many other customers would appreciate this option as well. We’re using Automox in a less protected environment, but I’m trying to evaluate if I can use it closer to our factory systems. Does Automox have an on-prem solution for partially air-gapped systems? It would be similar to an on-prem proxy.
Would it be possible to get a auto close/timeout on the agent? We have had some users gripe that after they click Install Updates and they install the agent window just remains open. Would it be possible to get that to auto close after X minutes?

My place of work has a plague of computers that get filled up on the local drive by our end users which has been causing trouble when trying to use automox. So I put this question forth, if there is a way for automox to automate cleaning up space? My problem is we can’t just do a be all delete all process as our users like to save important stuff locally. We have tried to educate them not too bt it doesnt work.
How do I create an email alert that informs me when an asset has not communicated with the portal for x days?
We’re happy to report that Automox now supports patching for the following third-party application: Microsoft SQL Server Management Studio 20 Windows And, the following titles are in progress and coming soon*: ePlayer Pro by Johnson Controls macOS GPL Ghostscript Windows Microsoft Visual Studio Build Tools 2022 - Fall 2021 LTSC Windows Microsoft Visual Studio Enterprise 2022 - Fall 2021 LTSC Windows Don’t forget that our third-party support catalog is always available to find the most up-to-date coverage of our third-party supported titles. *Disclaimer: As these titles are still in-process, Automox cannot guarantee the eta for third-party support as working with every vendor is different.
In our Automox environment we’ve noticed an increase in users reporting updates on Windows devices taking a very long time to progress before eventually failing with error message "Something didnt go as planned. No need to worry - undoing changes. Please keep your computer on."The whole process seems to take about 30-45 minutes, and there were no errors listed in the effected devices activity logs. Has anyone else noticed this behaviour?
Hi everyone,We’re planning to expand our IT operations team with remote IT admins who will be managing endpoints and creating Worklets in Automox. We’re exploring best practices for onboarding and enabling remote hires efficiently.Has anyone worked with remote IT talent sourced through a remote recruitment agency like CrewBloom? I’m especially interested in: Strategies for giving remote admins secure access to endpoint environments Tips for training them on creating and managing Automox Worklets effectively Collaboration methods for distributed teams to maintain and deploy scripts across Windows, macOS, and Linux Any advice, examples, or lessons learned would be greatly appreciated! Thanks in advance.
I have been looking to get the details of users who performed what action in Automox and I don’t see it anywhere. Please have this fixed as this is a critical audit requirement
