Worklet to Remove .Net Core Server (not SDK)

Has anyone found a good script to uninstall old versions of .NET Core? We’re running through vulnerabilities and we have a lot of servers running older unsupported versions of .NET Core Server Hosting. I’ve been able to upgrade .NET 6.0 without issue but it seems 3.1 versions just won’t update or go away. We have roughly 40+ servers running multiple versions of .NET Core. None are the SDK version so the .NET uninstall tool doesn’t work on them. I’ve tried a script to download the ASP.NET Core Hosting exe and running the uninstall commands from there and, nothing. I’ve tried installing a newer version of 3.1 over the existing version (like I did with 6.0) and didn’t take. How are all of you managing .NET Core versions and eliminating unsupported versions from your environment?I’m at a loss at this point. There are not SDKs and there is no Visual Studio. So there seems to be no easy way to remove these old .NET versions especially when the uninstaller process via Automox can’t provide an

Windows Server Patching and Reboot Behavior

Not sure if there’s a problem or something isn’t configured correctly… We have groups of Windows servers (group 1, group 2, etc.) with patch policies (patch 1, patch 2, etc.). I’ve noticed that if there multiple rounds of Windows updates, the policy will only install the first round. I have manually run the policy again to install the remaining patches. For example, policy runs at 8:00 am, installs X number of patches and server reboots. After reboot, the server still has available patches to install and I have to manually run the policy to install the remaining patches.

Delete file in privileged folder like system32

I’m trying to remediate https://msrc.microsoft.com/update-guide/en-US/vulnerability/CVE-2023-38175We use a 3rd party antivirus and not Microsoft Defender. Microsoft recommends deleting the file MpSigStub.exe. It’s located in C:\Windows\System32.  I tried to create the following but i think it’s not working because system32 needs elevated privileges. Any ideas? Evaluation Code: Exit 1 Remediation code: Remove-Item -path "C:\Windows\System32\MpSigStub.exe”

Agent instalaltion automation

Hi, I am trying to install automox agent automatically using Puppet. Issue is I have no way to check if agent is registered properly on automox, so every time puppet agent is starting deregistration and registration again. I tried to use agent to show me a group that node belongs, but there is no way to do it. I looked at API doc but I do not see a way to pull to which group node belongs.  Is there any way to check from node itself if agent is already registered or not?

Microsoft Office 365 Release Channels

Hello,I noticed in our Automox environment that we have a lot of client devices reporting they still need to update Microsoft Office 365 to latest version. However, we use the Semi-Annual Enterprise release channel and Automox is showing the Office version for the Current Release channel. Win 11 iso

Hey all,I’m having 0 success updating to windows 11 using the windows installation assistant from automox and from running it directly on the laptops I’m testing with.I have had success downloading the iso, mounting it, and running the upgrade from there.Has anyone else tested the Windows 11 worklet? I’ve thought about trying to create a worklet that downloads and mounts the iso and runs through the setup so I can put automation and control/schedule around the updates.

Microsoft Teams failing to apply patch because it is currently running.

Any solutions to the output below? We have such low compliance because everyone uses Teams. Failed to apply patches ("Teams Machine-Wide Installer..."): Error: Microsoft Teams is unable to patch because it is currently running.

Black screen on the servers

I’m not sure if this is Automox related but our company keeps having a black screen issue. It looks like the update is downloaded and the server is looking a reboot but if we don’t reboot the server I’ll will just sit on a black screen and we can’t login to it- this is causing issues because some applications won’t run. In this situation we need to use nutanix to reset the servers and it does install the updates then.Have you heard about this issue before? What is the fix for it if a policy which is supposed to reboot servers over weekend doesn’t work?

OOB Web Browser Update Policy Installing CUs?

When we first implemented Automox we created the suggested “Keep browsers up-to-date” policy available on the console’s front page. I recently saw this installed KB5030216 overnight on a few VMs with the policy applied. Has anyone else seen this behavior? Is this because “Everything Microsoft Edge” is included in the policy?

32bit vs 64bit Plans?

Hi,I often find myself running into problems when writing worklets which don’t work as intended. Devices that require a reboot

I have my patching policies set to automatically reboot and deferrals are configured so that the user gets two chances to put a restart off. But I’m still seeing machines that require reboots. How can I find out why the automatic reboots aren’t working and how can I fix this?TIAGreg

Automatic Reboot

I started my computer up this morning and was prompted with an Automox popup saying that my computer was going to restart in 5 min. I was not given an option to defer. Normally we give two deferal options and allow the person to defer three times max. So Im wondering is, even though my computer was turned off, Automox took the automatic deferal options and now that my computer is on, is forcing me to reboot? Hopefully that makes sense.  If that is the correct, how do you handle that? We dont want people turning on their computers, and getting prompted to have to reboot 5 min into their work day.  Thank you, Greg

Refining Worklet for Mapping Network Drives

Hello, I am trying to make a worklet to map certain network drives to users PCs. I tried the script that was posted about 3 years ago in “Worklet: Network Drive Mount Windows” and it runs but in File Explorer gives the error “Disconnected Network Drive”. Does anyone have an updated script or know how to tweak the previous script to fix this issue? Thanks!

Create a worklet that installs two programs and pushes a xml profile

Hello,I’m looking for guidance to create a worklet that will install Cisco secure client core VPN and Cisco Umbrella  as well as pushing an xml profile to the end point destination “C:\ProgramData\Cisco\Cisco AnyConnect Secure Mobility Client\Profile”. The goal is to push this software while the end point is not connected to the company network, but rather through the Automox agent. Worklet to Remove User Profiles

My Helpdesk team is encountering an issue in our Warehouse where multiple users will sign into a PC and fill up the disk space seemlingly overnight.I need a worklet that will evaluate the disk space on a shared PC and then delete user profiles that haven’t been modified or used in over 30 days if that disk exceeds 50%. I would also like it to also run disk cleanup every night.

Apply updates on system shutdown

Hi,We are looking for a way for Automox to be able to apply updates when a computer is shut down, like Windows Update does.We don’t know if with powershell (through a worklet) we could “tweak” the start menu so it looks like it does with Windows, with the options to “Shut down”, “Update and shut down” and so on.So we are wondering if this is something that someone else has struggled with, or if the Automox team has assessed this possibility. It would be a really convenient feature to have, so users are less bothered by the patching process, but we understand it´s a complicated issue.Do you have any idea if this is poossible through a worklet? How would you start developing it?Thanks!

Has anyone created a worklet to end a task or close an application? In the Automox University specifically the Third Party Patch Policy training, they talk about applications that need to be close in order to update. Has anyone been successful in creating a worklet that accomplishes this?
