Forum|alt.badge.img

We have set up user notifications in the format shown below, but end users are not receiving reboot notifications after completing Windows updates. Could you please help with this?

Hi RAHULNATH,

The patch policy as configured will not send a notification to the endpoint for a restart action. It will also not issue a restart to the endpoint after patching.
I think we are seeing a UI bug, where this would only send a message for an install of updates despite the label of the notification.

Patch policies only issue restart notifications with ‘Enable Automatic Restart after updates are installed’ is selected.

Can you delete this policy and recreate it with the same settings?  It will ultimately look like this:

To resolve this issue, what settings need to be configured in the Automox console to allow users to receive notifications where they can choose between "Restart Now" or deferral options?

Please provide a step-by-step process to enable these settings. If possible, share a screenshot of the settings as well.

Set the policy to ‘enable automatic restart after updates are installed’

There are 2 notifications types, ‘Install notifications’ and ‘Restart notifications’. Turn the restart notifications on:

@MarkH-Automox We have configured the policy as mentioned above, but the end user has still not received the reboot notification. We have also checked the amagent log and searched for the "showNotification" command, but it was not found. Please find the screenshot for reference. Could you please assist with this issue?

Did the patch policy install an update requiring a restart? Restarts are conditional based on what the policy actually installed. If the update did not require a restart then the end-user will not see a restart required message.

@MarkH-Automox The patch has been applied to the device, and a reboot is required for it. In the 'Need Attention' tab, the 'Need Reboot' warning is displayed in the console. However, the end user did not receive the reboot notification.

Hi Rahulnath,

Please open a case by emailing support@automox.com. We will need to know the device name/policy name to troubleshoot further.

@MarkH-Automox

As per the update from support, the policy was executed and the reboot notification was sent, but it timed out for the user. The user didn’t see any notifications on the device. Please assist with the queries below:

  1. What are the reasons why the notification is not visible on the client side?
  2. What settings need to be checked on the client side to resolve this issue?

Its possible the device was in DnD mode, or you may need to add an exception in Defender if that is in use.

@MarkH-Automox We have disabled the DND mode and checked the Defender firewall settings, but we are unable to see 'AgentNotifier' on the allowed apps and features list.
