An interesting article on ZDNet about the history of COBOL and why it may very well outlive us all. Micro Focus, the company maintaining COBOL, has a campaign to move COBOL apps to the cloud!

It’s crazy how much business critical stuff runs on outdated hardware and software.

I think the US nuclear arsenal still uses floppy disks for their systems. On the plus side, harder to hack if they’re outdated technology that isn’t connected to the internet.

I think they still use 8 inches floppy disks, not even 5¼…

Run-time fees? OMG.
