Announcing Automox’s $30M Series B Funding

We’re excited to announce our latest round of funding. Check out our blog from Jay for how we’re going to accelerate our mission:

How $30M in Series B Funding Accelerates Our Mission

Unfortunately, in today’s environment if you own a computer you are a target for someone else in the world, an adversary. If you are a corporation you likely have hundreds if not thousands of laptops, desktops, servers, and virtual machines each one presenting an attack surface for adversaries to leverage.

Since we began, our mission at Automox has been to deliver a better way for organizations to manage the cumbersome process of keeping their systems configured and updated so they can proactively eliminate their exposure to cyber threats.

Hardening IT infrastructure quickly and confidently is the most impactful step an organization can take at reducing its overall cybersecurity risk. In fact, nearly two out of three data breaches are attributed to vulnerabilities that security and IT teams knew about. And by 2025 its predicted that more than 85% of successful attacks against endpoints will exploit configuration and user errors rather than make use of advanced malware.

The primary reasons so many vulnerabilities are left unpatched by companies is the time and resources required to manually identify, test, and deploy patches. And it’s a burden that’s only made worse with today’s aging legacy on-prem solutions that were built for a different era and don’t align well to modern IT and SecOps use cases. Our objective at Automox is to help organizations “move left,” and obtain a clearer focus on the pre-incursion work they can do to dramatically reduce the exploitable attack surface that adversaries have to work with.

Today – we’re excited to announce that Koch Disruptive Technologies, CrowdStrike and CRV are joining us in our mission to make corporate infrastructure more resilient to cyber threats by investing $30M in Automox. This is an incredibly important inflection point both for Automox, and our customers and partners.

Here’s why: Today’s attackers move about 15 times faster than the average enterprise is capable of.

A critical vulnerability announced today will be weaponized and used against you within 7 days on average. Most organizations take approximately 102 days to patch. It’s simply impossible for IT and security teams to keep up.

This is an unsustainable practice, and it’s a problem created by legacy approaches to cyber hygiene that are outdated and can’t scale to the modern, cloud-driven world. Relying on legacy architecture for endpoint hardening complicates the process of identifying unpatched and noncompliant endpoints. It’s inefficient, cumbersome, and time consuming.

This is why architecture matters and gets to the core of the Automox difference.

Automox was built for the modern organization. Our cloud-native approach enables IT and security teams to quickly and easily keep up with the pace of software updates without the hassle of dealing with on-prem hardware. By automating patching and updating tasks, we’re reducing the complexity and improving the efficiency of the process.

Our architectural approach is based on the understanding that proactive cyber hygiene and the hardening of endpoint infrastructure is the key to a strong cyber defense. It’s the most important step an organization can take to dramatically reduce their cyber risk.

Automox is committed to helping you do this rapidly – this is the core of our 24 / 72 promise – we want to eliminate zero-day exploits within 24 hours of discovery, and critical vulnerabilities within 72 hours. We want to get you ahead of today’s attackers and keep you there.

This is why the funding and support of industry leaders like KDT and CrowdStrike is so important. This infusion of capital will help us continue to build out our solution to give you the power of automated cyber hygiene at the speed of DevOps.

This will help us support our leading vision of strategic partnerships with industry leaders such as CrowdStrike so you can easily integrate with the solutions of your choice.

We’re excited about this moment and believe we were purpose-built to help our customers conquer this industry-wide problem. Our resolve and commitment to our customers and partners has never been stronger. Look for more exciting announcements in the near future – and thank you all for helping make this possible.
