Coming Soon - Group Parameter in MSI Installer
Great news for folks deploying the AX agent in bulk or individually. We will be enabling users to identify a target group with a new group parameter in the MSI executable via command line. Groups will still have to be set-up ahead of time in the console, but this should help save time as you bulk add new hosts to your organizations and get them on policy runs as quickly as possible. Please be on the look-out for agent command line guide updates and other helpful tips for using this parameter. We’re targeting early December for a release and will post in Announcements when it is live. CC: @ncolyer
Patch Tuesday Rundown - January 2021
Happy January! This month, I thought we’d try something new and run down some of the highlights from this month’s Patch Tuesday, straight from the Automox experts. With 83 new Microsoft vulnerabilities addressed, 10 of which are critical updates, and one that’s already been exploited in the wild, we’re already having a volatile start to the new year. This patch release represents an increase over last month’s batch and features this year’s first zero-day exploit - a critical remote code execution vulnerability within Microsoft Defender. Not to mention, Adobe’s newest patch addresses 6 security updates and 1 hotfix addressing multiple remote code execution vulnerabilities, privilege escalations, and sensitive information disclosures across their products. Plus, Adobe has officially designated Adobe Flash Player as end of life, recommending everyone remove Adobe Flash on all endpoints. You can find a full list of the patches and updates from Firefox, Adobe, and Microsoft in our Patch Tue

Coming Soon: API LImits
In the coming weeks, we will be releasing updates to the Automox API and introducing API limits to ensure optimum platform performance for our customers. We will begin to roll out changes to our endpoints to begin to support and eventually enforce limits on the number of results returned per request. These endpoints will have a limit parameter available, and this parameter will have both a default value and a maximum limit. The limit argument will allow values between 1-500, with a default of 500, and a max of 500. Our endpoint responses do not contain pagination information so API users will have to check to see if there are additional pages. For example, if 499 results are returned when 500 results are requested, there is no second page. If 500 results are returned, a second request will be needed to check for and fetch additional results. These changes to the endpoints will be documented at https://developer.automox.com/ We will be rolling out these limit arguments for our API end
Coming Soon - Software Page
This week we are planning to release an updates Software page. The updated design of the Software Page has changed to include the ability to configure and sort columns, and allow the user to perform actions on a per software basis. Filters are presented in a more typical web standard format whereby selecting a filter will narrow your results. These updates have not changed the basic functionality of the page, but allows the user to better manipulate the content to view what is most important or relevant. Also, you can now perform actions directly from the software page in addition to the device detail page. image2872×2635 819 KB
Automox Achieves SOC 2 Type 2 Certification Ensuring Secure Endpoint Management From the Cloud
Hello Automox Alive Community! I am pleased to announce that Automox has passed the audit requirements of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants’ (AICPA) achieving SOC 2 Type 2 (System and Organization Control 2 Type 2) status. SOC 2 Type 2 is a cloud service provider benchmark attesting to a provider’s overall cybersecurity hygiene. The process is voluntary, consisting of a capability audit aligned to Trust Service Principle control categories. These categories are of the latest industry standards covering Privacy, Security, Availability, Process Integrity, and Confidentiality as measured and audited over a period of 9 to 12 months on average. Oracle SE Java 8 Support Shift
Hello Automox Community! Effective immediately, Automox is no longer able to support patching for Oracle SE Java 8. Many third-party software providers have EULAs (End User License Agreements) that prevent patching solutions from directly redistributing patches or software updates. Recently, Oracle’s Java SE 8 went through the “End of Public Updates” process for legacy releases. Patches can vary by system architecture and platform but the fundamentals remain the same. What this means for Automox users is that Automox will no longer be able to enable third-party application patching for Oracle SE Java 8 without violating the EULA from Oracle. The good news is that Automox can still help automate patching of third-party applications like Java 8 through Worklets and our template guidance. For additional details on this announcement, please see our blog for more information.

Coming Soon: Reboot Deferrals and Custom Notifications
We’re happy to share that we’ll be releasing a new option that allows you to configure and have more control over system reboots after a patch update. The ability to defer system reboots has been a long-standing request from our existing customers, so we’re excited to be delivering this capability next week. The new reboot deferral options will be available when you create or edit a policy. This new feature allows system administrators to configure a maximum number of reboot deferrals and the delay intervals for those deferrals. If an update to a current device requires a reboot, the device owner receives a notification that a reboot is required. If reboot deferrals are configured, they have the option to reboot now or defer the reboot for a set amount of time, a set number of times. You do not need to do anything to prepare for this feature being released. All policies will maintain their current settings. Once the console is updated, you can create new policies or edit existing polic
